Bye Bye Beta

From the AMIA listserv, via Media Matters'Jim Lindner, comes the news that Sony's discontinuing Beta SP record decks--as Jim points out, it's the end of analog videotape recording, which just barely missed a fifty-year lifespan. This makes me sad, and also feel elderly...I'm old enough to remember when the workhorse formats were 1" and 3/4". My fellow students at NYU used to call me "Grandpa."
